730+ mod expert progression pack

What Age of Fate actually is

Age of Fate is DexxKnight1's hard-and-expert progression pack, with over 730 mods, more than 4,800 quests, and over 546,000 downloads on CurseForge. It covers tech, magic and challenge content, and it is explicitly built around progression rather than sandbox freedom — the recipes and gates are designed to make you work through the pack in order.

Expert packs are a specific taste. Recipes are deliberately harder than in the base mods, shortcuts are removed, and getting to the next tier is meant to take real effort. If your group wants to be handed a machine after twenty minutes, this is the wrong pack. If they want a project that lasts months, it is one of the best available.

Nearly five thousand quests

A quest count that high is not decoration. On a 730-mod pack, the quest book is the only realistic way to navigate, and Age of Fate uses it to structure the entire progression — each stage tells you what it wants and what it unlocks.

For a server it also solves the biggest problem large packs have: people not knowing what to do. Groups can take different quest branches, specialise, and trade. Anyone who has watched a kitchen-sink server die in week two because nobody had a next step will appreciate the difference.

Which Minecraft version does Age of Fate run on?

The pack has moved across versions as it has developed. The 3.x line runs on Minecraft 1.19.2, and the current 4.x releases run on 1.20.1 with Forge. Pick the line your group wants and stay on it — moving a world between major pack versions on a pack this size is not a realistic plan.

Everyone must run exactly the same build. With 730 mods, "we're all on Age of Fate" is not enough information to connect.

How much RAM does an Age of Fate server need?

This is one of the heaviest packs you can host. Eight GB is the realistic minimum for a small group; 10 to 12 GB is the number for a group of four to six with real bases and automation. A busy server with more players wants more still.

Do not simply allocate as much as possible, though. Very large heaps lengthen garbage collection pauses, which on a modded server are felt as periodic freezes. Size the heap to the pack and then manage chunk loading, which is what actually determines whether a 730-mod server runs well.

Starting an Age of Fate server on GameTeam

  • Decide the pack line — 1.19.2 or 1.20.1 — before anyone installs.
  • Create a Minecraft server, install Age of Fate, and match the Forge build.
  • Be patient on the first start. Seven hundred mods take several minutes to load.
  • Distribute one exact client version to the whole group.
  • Set up backups immediately. An expert pack represents months of work; one restore point is not enough.

Expert packs need a committed group

The recipes are harder on purpose, and progress is measured in evenings rather than minutes. That is exactly what some groups want and exactly what makes others quit in week one. Have the conversation before you start the server, not after the third person stops logging in.

Divide the quest book

Nobody completes 4,800 quests alone. Servers that get deep into Age of Fate assign branches — one player on power, one on magic, one on storage and logistics — and pool the results. It is faster, it keeps everyone engaged, and it is the only realistic way to see most of what the pack contains.
