All of Fabric 4 is TeamAOE's Minecraft 1.17.1 kitchen-sink pack, built on Fabric and covering the usual ground: technology, magic, exploration and performance mods in one world. With around 370,000 downloads it is the least played entry in the series, for a reason that has nothing to do with quality.

1.17.1 was a short-lived Minecraft version. Caves and Cliffs arrived in two halves, and most modded players waited for the second half in 1.18 rather than settle on the first. AOF4 is the pack that lived in that gap.

Two groups: people who specifically want 1.17.1 because a mod or a world they care about is pinned to it, and people who want a Fabric kitchen-sink pack that is smaller than the later entries. If neither describes your group, AOF5 or AOF6 will give you more content and a longer support tail.

Where AOF4 does hold up is as a lighter server. Fewer mods means faster starts, fewer conflicts and less to explain to friends who are new to modded Minecraft.

AOF4 runs on Minecraft 1.17.1 with Fabric. Because the version window was brief, mods for it are thinner on the ground than for 1.16.5 or 1.18 — check availability before you promise your group an addition.

Server and clients must be on the same pack build, as with every modded server.

4 GB is comfortable for a small group and 6 GB covers a larger one with automation running. This is a lighter pack than the entries that followed it, so a modest plan goes further here than the series average suggests.

• Create a Minecraft server and choose a location close to your players.
• Install All of Fabric 4 from the mod installer and let the first run finish.
• Start the server and watch the console for a clean load.
• Confirm everyone is on the same pack build before handing out the address.
• Enable backups — 1.17.1 worlds are harder to rebuild than to protect.

One practical advantage of the AOF series is the loader. Fabric servers start faster than Forge servers with comparable mod lists, and the performance mods bundled with the pack are doing real work on the server as well as on the client.

That does not make a kitchen-sink pack light, but it does mean an AOF pack tends to run better on the same plan than a Forge pack of similar size. On AOF4, which is the smallest entry in the series, the difference is noticeable.

The heaviest period on a fresh AOF4 server is the first week, while everyone explores and generates terrain. After that, the cost shifts to whatever machinery your group leaves running.

Keep an eye on chunk loaders in particular. A single forgotten quarry running in an abandoned corner of the map will quietly cost your server every tick for months, and it is the first thing worth checking when performance drops for no obvious reason.

Not cleanly. Modded worlds carry block and item data from the exact mod set that made them, so moving to AOF5 or AOF6 means a new world rather than an upgrade. Decide which version your group wants before anyone builds something they would miss.
