All the Mods 3 is the 1.12.2 kitchen-sink pack that a lot of people still call home: 261 mods, every classic tech and magic name, and a version that never moves.

All the Mods 3 is the ATM Team's Minecraft 1.12.2 kitchen-sink pack: 261 mods covering technology, magic, exploration, cosmetics and everything in between. It has passed three million downloads on CurseForge, and its last build, v6.1.1, arrived in January 2022.
The pack is in maintenance mode. The team stopped adding new mods and moved active development to All the Mods 3: Remix, while the original keeps receiving occasional fixes. For a server that is not a warning — it means the ground under your world has stopped shifting.
1.12.2 is the version where a whole generation of mods reached their final, most complete form. Thermal, Ender IO, Applied Energistics, Botania, Thaumcraft — the versions people remember are the 1.12.2 ones, and ATM3 puts them in the same world. If your group's nostalgia has a version number, this is usually it.
It also means every problem you can hit has been written up somewhere. For a group that includes people new to modded Minecraft, that documentation depth is worth more than newer content.
Remix is the actively developed branch and rebalances progression; the original is the classic experience. They are separate packs with separate worlds, so decide before you install — moving a world between them is not something you want to attempt after a month of building.
Whichever you take, server and clients must run the same build. With a pack this old, launchers are full of stale copies.
5 GB is a sensible floor, 6 GB is comfortable for four to six players, and 8 GB gives room for the large automated bases this pack encourages. 1.12.2 packs are not lighter than modern ones — the mod count is what costs you, and 261 is a lot.
Java version matters here too: 1.12.2 expects an older Java runtime than current packs. Our installer sets that up for you, but it is the first thing to check if a self-installed copy refuses to start.
Because so much was written for this version, adding to ATM3 is easier than adding to a modern pack. If your group has a favourite mod from years ago, there is a good chance it has a 1.12.2 build that drops straight in.
Old packs accumulate chunk-loading machinery quickly. If tick times start climbing after a few weeks, look for abandoned bases still running quarries and mob farms before you look at the plan size.
