Client-side Fabric performance pack

What Amazing FPS Booster actually is

Amazing FPS Booster is a Fabric performance pack by Sh4d0wJ0J0 with over 150,000 downloads on CurseForge. It bundles the well-known Fabric optimisation mods — Sodium and the rendering and memory mods that go with it — into one install, so players get much better frame rates without assembling the list themselves.

The important thing to understand before you set up a server: this pack changes how Minecraft renders on your computer. It is a client-side pack. It does not add blocks, items or world content, and nothing in it needs to run on the server.

Client lag and server lag are different problems

These get confused constantly, and confusing them wastes money. Low FPS is your graphics card and CPU struggling to draw frames — that is what a performance pack fixes. Rubber-banding, delayed block breaking, mobs freezing and items appearing a second after you drop them are server-side tick problems, and no client mod will touch them.

A quick way to tell them apart: press F3 in game. If your FPS number is low, that is a client problem. If FPS is fine but the TPS or MSPT figure on the server is struggling, that is the server. Fixing the wrong one leaves you exactly where you started.

Do you install it on the server?

No. Client-side rendering mods do not belong in a server install, and adding them can prevent the server from starting at all. Run a normal Fabric server for whatever version you are playing, and let each player install the performance pack on their own machine.

Everyone still needs the same Minecraft and Fabric version as the server, but the individual optimisation mods do not have to match between players — a group can happily have some people on the pack and some without it.

What actually makes a server run better

  • Enough RAM for the pack you are running, but not more than that. Oversized heaps make garbage collection pauses worse, not better.
  • A sensible view distance. This is the single biggest server-side lever, and dropping it a few chunks often does more than any mod.
  • Fewer loaded chunks. Consolidating bases and switching off unused chunk loaders is the most common real fix.
  • Entity control. Mob farms and large animal pens cost more server time than almost anything else.
  • A location close to your players. Latency is not lag, but it feels identical when you are the one being hit.

Using it with a GameTeam server

  • Create a Minecraft server on the Fabric version your group is playing.
  • Do not install client performance mods on the server side.
  • Have each player install the performance pack locally with the matching Minecraft version.
  • Check the server's tick time in the console before blaming client frame rates, or the other way round.
  • Adjust view distance and simulation distance on the server if tick times are high.

Server-side performance mods exist too

If your problem really is on the server, there are Fabric mods built for that side — the ones that optimise entity handling, chunk loading and world saving. Those do go in the server install, and they are a different set from the rendering mods in a client FPS pack. Add them one at a time and check tick times after each, so you know which one helped.

The honest version of the advice

Most groups who install an FPS pack and still feel lag were never limited by frame rate to begin with. Before changing anything, spend one session identifying whether the problem is on your machine or on the server. It takes five minutes and it is the difference between a fix and a guess.
