Avatar: The Four Elements Server Hosting

Avatar: The Four Elements is BonsaiParadox's pack for fans of the series, with over 320,000 downloads on CurseForge. It reshapes the world to fit the setting: bending as the central mechanic, plus new flora and fauna, civilizations, dimensions, tools and weapons, dragons and reworked biomes.

The bending itself is what people come for. Each element has its own abilities and its own feel, and choosing one shapes how you fight, travel and build for the whole run.

The underlying bending mods are built with PvP in mind — the abilities are combat abilities, balanced against each other rather than against mobs. Alone, that balance is invisible; with four people who each took a different element, it is the entire game.

That is also the pattern most successful servers follow: everyone picks a different element, and the group ends up with genuinely different capabilities. Water for support and mobility, earth for defence, fire for offence, air for movement. It is close to a class system, and it works for the same reasons.

The pack has been built and rebuilt across several releases, so check the exact version you are installing rather than assuming. Bending mods in this space have historically lived on older Forge versions, and the pack version determines both the Minecraft version and the Java runtime your server needs.

Client and server must match exactly. Bending abilities are keybind-driven and server-validated, so a mismatched client typically connects and then finds none of its abilities work — which is harder to diagnose than an outright rejection.

Plan for 4 to 6 GB for a normal group. The pack adds a lot of world content, so terrain generation is the heaviest part of the early game, but there is little always-on machinery to tick afterwards.

Ability effects do cost something during fights — bending abilities move blocks and spawn entities — so a server hosting large PvP battles wants headroom that a quiet building server would not need.

• Create a Minecraft server and install the pack, matching Forge and Java to the pack version.
• Let the first start finish and confirm the console is clean.
• Give everyone the exact same pack build.
• Decide whether PvP is on before people choose elements — it changes which elements feel strong.
• Agree on rules about bending near other people's builds. Earthbending rearranges terrain, and that includes terrain someone built on.

A server where everyone picked fire is a server with one strategy. Coordinating so each element is represented gives the group complementary abilities and makes both PvP and exploration far more interesting. It takes one message in the group chat before the first session.

Bending abilities move and destroy blocks, which means an unprotected spawn will be a crater within a week. Setting spawn protection before people start experimenting saves you rebuilding it, and it is much easier to do on day one than after the first accident.
