Arma 3 Server Hosting
Plan the op, brief the squad and take the objective while the AI copilot holds the server.
What do you need for Arma 3 game server hosting?
Arma 3 game server hosting comes down to four things: 4–8 GB of RAM and a fast CPU core (AI is what costs you), the Arma 3 Dedicated Server build (Steam app 233780), UDP ports 2302–2306 open, and a server.cfg with your missions and mods in it. Host it yourself on a spare PC, or rent an Arma 3 server that is already set up. On GameTeam you pay per GB of RAM, from $0.49/GB a week — never per slot — and the AI copilot edits the config, loads mission cycles and reads the RPT log when someone gets kicked at join.
Run your Arma 3 server by just asking.
Arma 3 hides most problems in two places: the mod keys and the RPT log. Tell the copilot what the unit needs tonight — it changes server.cfg, sets the mission cycle, checks the keys folder and reads the log when a player bounces off the server.
Ready at Briefing Time
Mission uploaded, cycle set, mods matched — ask the copilot and it is done before the unit logs in.
Join Rejections, Explained
A signed-mod mismatch reads like a connection problem; the copilot reads the log and names the actual cause.
Company-Size Slots
Unlimited players — a full company assault costs the same as a four-man recon.
Arma 3 with friends
A military sandbox that treats a mission like a plan, not a round: real terrain, real distances, and units that need coordination to survive. Groups build entire operations around it, from a four-man recon to a full company assault, and no two missions look alike.
Arma 3 server RAM requirements
4-8 GB. Large missions with heavy AI counts benefit from the upper end, since AI simulation is the main cost.
| Your server | Starting RAM | From (Budget, weekly) |
|---|---|---|
| Co-op or Zeus for a small group, vanilla | 4 GB | $1.96 / week |
| 20–40 players with CBA, ACE and a map pack | 6 GB | $2.94 / week |
| Antistasi, Exile or Altis Life with heavy AI and many mods | 8 GB | $3.92 / week |
Arma 3 is limited by the CPU long before memory: AI count and mission scripting decide how smooth it plays, and every big mod adds to the load time and the RAM. Start in this range and change RAM in one click from the panel — the server and its files stay as they are. Player limit: 30-60 is typical for milsim groups; the limit in practice is AI count and mission scripting, not slots.
How to set up a Arma 3 server on GameTeam
Pick RAM and a location
4 GB covers a small group, 6–8 GB a modded unit. Choose the location nearest most of your players — 25+ across Europe, the Americas and Asia-Pacific.
Load mods and missions
Upload your @mod folders and mission .pbo files, or tell the copilot which mods and mission to run. It sets the -mod= line, copies the keys into keys/ and writes the mission cycle in server.cfg.
Send the unit the address
Copy the IP and port from the panel. In Arma 3 open Multiplayer → Server Browser, find the server by name or use Direct Connect, and join with the password if you set one.
Good to know before you start
Missions have to be uploaded to the mpmissions folder and then listed in the mission cycle, so a fresh server sits on an empty rotation until you do both.
The most common problem
Mods loaded on the server but not signed or not matched on clients produce a join rejection that reads like a connection problem.
Arma 3 server settings explained
An Arma 3 dedicated server reads two files: server.cfg (passed with -config=) for the name, passwords, security and mission cycle, and basic.cfg (passed with -cfg=) for network tuning. Difficulty lives in the server profile, server.Arma3Profile. These are the server.cfg settings owners change most:
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
hostname | The name shown in the server browser. |
password | Password players need to join. Leave it out for an open server. |
passwordAdmin | Password for #login, which gives admin rights in game. |
admins[] | Steam64 IDs that can #login without the password. |
maxPlayers | Players allowed at once. In practice AI count and mission scripting set the limit, not slots. |
motd[] / motdInterval | Welcome lines shown on join, and the seconds between them. |
verifySignatures | 2 checks every client addon against the keys in keys/. Keep it on for public servers. |
BattlEye | 1 turns on the BattlEye anti-cheat, 0 turns it off (for private test servers). |
persistent | 1 keeps the mission running when the last player leaves. |
voteThreshold / voteMissionPlayers | Share of players needed for a vote, and how many must join before a mission starts. |
disableVoN | 1 turns off in-game voice, for units that use TeamSpeak or Discord. |
class Missions | The mission cycle: each entry names a template (the .pbo name without the extension) and a difficulty. |
Arma 3 server commands
Open chat (/ by default) and type #login with the passwordAdmin value to become admin. Or ask the copilot to run any of them from the panel.
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
#login <password> | Logs you in as admin. No password needed if your ID is in admins[]. |
#logout | Drops admin rights. |
#missions | Ends the mission and opens the mission selection screen. |
#mission <file> <difficulty> | Loads a mission by name, optionally with a difficulty. |
#restart | Restarts the current mission. #reassign sends everyone back to role selection. |
#kick <name/ID> | Kicks a player. |
#exec ban <name/ID> | Bans a player and writes their ID to ban.txt. |
#lock / #unlock | Stops new players joining, or lets them in again. |
#monitor <seconds> | Shows server FPS and memory. #monitor 0 stops it. |
#shutdown | Stops the server. #restartserver stops and starts it again. |
Can I add mods to a Arma 3 server?
Yes. Mods are loaded with the -mod= startup parameter and must match on clients. Server-side-only mods and mission files can be used without client downloads.
Client mods go on -mod= (players need the same ones); server-only mods go on -serverMod=. Each mod's .bikey belongs in keys/, or verifySignatures kicks everyone who runs it. On a Linux server, mod folder names must be lowercase. Modded Arma 3 server hosting on GameTeam works with your own uploads, and the copilot handles the key and parameter side.
Arma 3 server ports
All four move with the main port: change -port= and the rest shift with it. 2305 is a retired voice port and needs no forwarding. On GameTeam there is nothing to forward; the panel shows your exact address and port.

What server owners say
"Honestly didn't expect much from an 'AI manager', but it's how I run my server now. I'll type something like 'why did the server crash last night' and it actually reads the logs and tells me."
Verified review
"I'd been on two other hosts before this. What sold me was the AI manager catching a memory leak in one of my mods and naming the exact one — something I'd been chasing for weeks."
Verified review
"I'm not very technical and setting up servers always stressed me out. Now I just ask the assistant to fix a config, and it either walks me through it or does it for me."

Arma 3 server hosting FAQ
How do I host an Arma 3 server?
Three ways. From the game: Multiplayer → Server Browser → Host Server, set Host to Internet and forward UDP 2302–2306 (or tick UPnP). That server lives only while you play. A dedicated server on your own PC runs the separate Arma 3 Dedicated Server build through SteamCMD. Or let an Arma 3 server host run it: hosting an Arma 3 server on GameTeam takes minutes and there is nothing to forward. The Arma 3 dedicated server guide covers the do-it-yourself route step by step.
Why is my Arma 3 host server not working?
When you can't host a server from the game client, it is nearly always the network: the ports aren't forwarded, UPnP and manual forwarding are fighting each other, or your ISP puts you behind CGNAT so nothing gets in. Arma 3 also needs a real IPv4 address; it does not work over IPv6. Arma 3 dedicated server hosting avoids all of it: the server already sits on a public address with its ports open.
How do my friends join my Arma 3 server?
They open Multiplayer → Server Browser and search for your server name, or use Direct Connect with the IP and port from the GameTeam panel. If the server uses mods, they need the same mods loaded in the Arma 3 Launcher first, or they get kicked at join.
How much does an Arma 3 server cost?
The Arma 3 server cost is set by RAM, not players. You pay per GB: $0.49/GB a week on Budget, or $1.99/GB billed monthly. A 4 GB server is $1.96 a week, 6 GB is $2.94 and 8 GB is $3.92, with every slot included and the AI copilot on every plan.
Where can I find cheap Arma 3 server hosting?
The cheapest Arma 3 server hosting is the one that charges for what the mission uses. Slots don't cost anything on GameTeam; RAM does, from $0.49/GB a week. Billing can be weekly, so an Arma 3 server rental can cover one campaign instead of a whole month, and the first 72 hours are money-back.
Can I run Antistasi, Exile, KOTH or Altis Life?
Yes. Upload the mission and its mods, and the copilot sets the -mod= line, the keys and the mission cycle. Life and Exile servers usually come with server-side mods of their own (they go on -serverMod=), so follow the mission's install notes. Whatever you run, the RAM is what you pay for, not the player count.
What are the Arma 3 dedicated server requirements?
The server binary is mainly CPU-bound, so clock speed matters more than core count. Plan on 4 GB of RAM for a light server and up to 8 GB for heavy AI and big modpacks, an SSD for mods, and a real IPv4 address (Arma 3 doesn't support IPv6). Headless clients each need about 2 GB more.
Do you have Arma 3 server hosting in Australia?
Not yet. Our Asia-Pacific locations are Singapore and India; for players in Australia, Singapore is the closest. You can move a server to another location later without losing data.
Can I switch the server to Arma Reforger or another game?
Yes. The same server can switch to Arma Reforger or any of our 70+ games when the unit moves on, without a new signup.
Does it update when Arma 3 updates?
Yes. Stop and start the server from the panel and it updates to the latest version, so it matches your players' game after a patch.
Run it yourself — or let the copilot.
Same server, any game.
The op starts at 20:00. The server is already up.
Deploy an Arma 3 server, tell the copilot which mods and mission to load, and send the unit the address.
